Species Details

This hybrid orchid is a very rare native perennial that occurs in wet grasslands and calcareous marshes with its parents. It was discovered in 1991 by Dr. L. Storer on a roadside on the Hucklow/Bradwell Moors (SK1679). There have then been two other sightings since - Monsal Trail (SK1172) and Ramsley Moor (SK2876). It is the sterile hybrid of Common Spotted-orchid (XXD. fuchsii) and Early Marsh-orchid (XXD. incarnata), so only occurs as isolated individuals.
