Species Details

This hybrid spotted-orchid is a very rare native perennial of rough grassy areas where base-rich and base-poor soils co-exist. It has been recorded only in the northern half of the county at Chelmorton Rake (SK1170) and near Owler Bar (SK2876). In 1950 it was also recorded in SK28. It is the sterile hybrid of Common (XXD. fuchsii) and Heath Spotted-orchid (XXD. maculata), so only occurs as isolated individuals.
