Species Details

Spurge-laurel is a native evergreen shrub of woods and thickets. It occurs rarely on the Magnesian Limestone (Whitwell Wood SK5278) and in the White Peak (Cressbrook Dale SK1772 and High Tor Woods SK2959). There is one record off the limestone at Cliffside Wood (SK3455) though it also previously occurred in the south of our area at Radbourne Pool (SK2835). This latter record may be for an introduction as the plant is sometimes associated with pheasant-rearing areas such as Radbourne. The plant is towards its northern British limit in our area.
