Species Details

Tufted Hair-grass is a common native perennial that grows throughout our area. Two subspecies occur locally. Subspecies Xxcespitosa is a common plant of wet unimproved grasslands, marshes and waysides on damp heavy soils. Subspecies Xxparviflora is a rare, but probably under-recorded, plant of damp woods. Both subspecies occur throughout our area except that subspecies Xxparviflora is absent from the Dark and South West Peak areas. (Use map of species)
