Species Details

Wall Whitlowgrass is a rare, small, native annual of the White Peak area. It survives on shallow soils over limestone, on walls and on the ballast of disused railway lines. There are recent records amongst others from the following Dales: Biggin (SK1458), Coombs (SK2274), Deep (SK0971) and Millers Dale (SK1574). There are also scattered records from outside the White Peak, e.g. in the Peak Fringe (Cromford SK3057) and the Coal Measures (Hagg Lane SK4339). Outside Derbyshire it occurs sporadically throughout Britain and is Nationally Scarce.

This plant is in Category 3 of the local Red Data List, 2009.
