Species Details

Common Male Fern is a very common native perennial of a wide range of damp and generally shaded habitats throughout the county on all but the most acidic substrates. It occurs in woods hedges and scrub, as well as on banks, rocky hillsides and walls. It is generally deciduous though it may remain green over winter in sheltered spots and when young (Willmot 1989).
