Species Details

(Locally extinct) Mountain Male Fern was a very rare native perennial of screes in upland areas. The sole local record is “In the Peak, Derbyshire” (Johnson & Sowerby 1855). Nationally it is a plant of upland Britain which would then have been on the south-eastern limit of its distribution in the county.

This plant is in Category 6 of the local Red Data List, 2009.
