Species Details

Rigid Buckler Fern is a recently established perennial of crevices in limestone outcrops. It was first discovered by J G Hodgson and S R Band in 1974 at Biggin (SK1657) and then found at Priestcliffe Lees (SK1572) in 1980. As both sites are on man-made limestone outcrops in railway cuttings, it is regarded locally as established in the county though it is noted as native by some authorities (Preston XXet al. 2002). It is a Nationally Scarce species that occurs in north-western England and Wales.
