Species Details

This orchid is a native perennial of wet woodland on the Magnesian Limestone. It has only been found growing in one marshy area within Ginny Spring SSSI near Whitwell Wood (SK5278), and was last seen flowering in 1992. It is categorised as Nationally Scarce. It occurs scattered throughout mainland Britain, except for northern Scotland. Like many self-pollinating species, this plants is very variable from area to area.

This plant is in Category 3 of the local Red Data List, 2009.
