Species Details

Garden Rocket is a very rare casual annual of waste land and tips. There are no recent records and only four previous ones all from the middle of the last century (Clifton Tip SK1644, Newhaven SK1660, Yeldersley SK2043 & Walton SK2318). It was formerly grown as a medicinal plant, an aphrodisiac was extracted from the seeds (Preston XXet al. 2002). Nowadays it is introduced as a contaminant of seeds and spices, and is a grown as a salad vegetable. It is a native of southern Europe.
