Species Details

Wallflower is a rare established perennial of walls quarries and limestone cliffs throughout our area (Toddbrook Reservoir SK0081 v.c.58, Stoney Middleton SK2275, Cromford SK3057 and Ticknall SK3622). It has apparently increased recently but this may only be due to a greater willingness of local botanists to record established plants, as at some sites it has been known since at least 1903 for example walls at Wingfield Manor (SK3754). It is much grown in gardens and is of garden origin.
