Species Details

This aggregate includes all Eyebrights that occur locally, as few Derbyshire recorders have distinguished between the various species that occur. Where they have, these are noted individually below, but all are probably very under-recorded. The aggregate is a native annual semi-parasite that grows on the roots of a wide range of herbs and small shrubs, mainly in unimproved permanent grassland. It is common in the White Peak and some adjacent areas; occasional on the Magnesian Limestone as at Whitwell Wood (SK5277); and rare elsewhere as at Ticknall Quarries (SK3623) in the south of our area. It was previously more frequent outside its current core area of the White Peak.
