Species Details

Meadow Fescue is a tufted native perennial of grass fields, grassy waysides and waste ground usually on moist nutrient-rich soils. It was also often sown for fodder, so much so that it is now impossible to distinguish native plants from introduced ones. It is recorded occasionally throughout our area from Deep Clough (SK0497) and Salters Brook (SE1300 v.c.58) in the north, to Swadlincote (SK2819) and Forbes Hole (SK4932) in the south.
