Species Details

Yellow Star-of-Bethlehem is a native perennial of damp base-rich woods scrub and grassland. Recent records indicate that it is a rare plant of the White Peak for example at Cressbrook Dale (SK1774), Greaves Hollow (SK2065) and Pitty Wood (SK2752). Previously it was also recorded for the Magnesian Limestone as at Cresswell Crags (SK5374) in 1955, and scattered elsewhere in the south of the county as at Derby (SK33) in 1903. The record for Old Egginton Hall (SK2628) in 1982 is an introduction. It is a shy and early flowerer so is probably under-recorded.

This plant is in Category 5b of the local Red Data List, 2009.
