Species Details

Woodruff is an occasional native perennial of damp areas in ancient woods and hedges, generally on base-rich soils. It is also commonly grown in gardens so some records, particularly those near habitations, may be just garden escapes. It has been recorded throughout our area from Woodseats (SJ9992) and Bondhay Plantation (SK5078) in the north, to Grange Wood (SK2714) and Wicket Nook (SK3619) in the south.
