Species Details

Black-grass is a rare native annual of cultivated and waste ground, though some recent authorities consider it only an ancient introduction to our area (Stace XXet al. 2003). It occurs from east of Ringinglow (SK2983) in the north, through Beresford Dale (SK15J), to Catton (SK2214) and near Pistern Hill (SK3421) in the south. Nationally it is decreasing in frequency (Preston XXet al. 2002) but there is no evidence of this locally.
