Species Details
Tutsan is a very rare, established low shrub of shaded habitats and waste ground. It occurs scattered throughout the northern and eastern parts of our area (Gamesley Woods SK0194, Duffield Station SK3443, Frith Wood SK3678 & Lock Lane Ash Tip SK4831). It is often grown in gardens from where it is probably spread by birds. It may formerly have been native as at Matlock (SK35). It is indigenous to western and southern Britain.
