Species Details

Garden Candytuft is a very rare established annual. It is often grown in gardens from where it sometimes escapes onto waste or disturbed land. There are seven recent records including Combs Village (SK0478), Cressbrook Mill (SK1772), Derby (SK33) and Shirebrook (SK5366). This plant is often misrecorded as Wild Candytuft (XXI. amara). It is a native of southern Europe as a wild species, but garden plants, and presumably our escapees as well, are a cultivar of garden origin.
