Species Details

Yellow Iris is an occasional native perennial. It grows on the margins of ponds lakes and rivers, and also occurs in wet meadows, marshes and fens. Apart from the high moors of the South West and Dark Peak, it has been noted throughout our area from near Chew (SJ9992) and Normanton Springs (SK4084) in the north, to Coton-in-the-Elms (SK2415) and Trent Lock (SK4831) in the south. It is increasingly planted around ornamental water bodies so some records may represent introductions.
