Species Details

Walnut is a rare casual or planted tree of hedgerows and gardens. It grows scattered throughout our area though generally avoiding the White Peak and the higher moorlands of the Dark Peak (Bradwell SK1780, Sutton-on-the-hill SK2334, Sandiacre SK4736 & Rowthorne SK4764). It is indigenous to south-eastern Europe and Asia.
