Species Details

Leafy Rush is a very rare native annual. The sole local record is from a stream near the mill in Chatsworth Park (SK2568) where it was discovered in 1996 by David Dupree. Nationally it is native of southern and western Britain and this record is on the north-eastern edge of its British distribution. Although counted as native here, its occurrence so far from other native sites is a puzzle. It may well have been introduced with the cattle from Wales that were sometimes grazed in the area.

This plant is in Category 4 of the local Red Data List, 2009.
