Species Details

Saltmarsh Rush is a very rare, recently-established perennial. The sole local record is from waste ground at Ilkeston (SK4642) in 2003. It grows naturally in saltmarshes around the coasts of Britain and is occasionally found as an introduction in saline areas inland. The reason for its occurrence at Ilkeston, without any other obvious signs of salinity, is a mystery.
