Explanation of terms

Species Details

LOCALLY EXTINCT Juniper was a very rare native shrub of limestone slopes in the White Peak. Its only native record appears to be one made in Ashwood Dale (SK07) in 1884 (Linton 1903), although it has been known from Grin Wood Buxton (SK0572) since at least 1969 (Clapham 1969) and some have considered it as a native at this site. There are also a number of records, both current (White Edge Moor SK2678) and previous (Wardlow SK1774), as introductions for the species.

This plant is in Category 6 of the local Red Data List, 2009.
