Species Details

A very rare, native perennial which grows submerged in ponds and lakes mostly in base-poor waters. It occurs scattered throughout central Derbyshire avoiding the limestone areas. Typical localities are Taxal (SK0079 - VC58) and Hartlesthorpe Dam (SK4976). Previously it occurred in a wider range of habitats including canals, but over the same general area (e.g. canal between Renishaw and Staveley SK47).

This plant is in Category 5a of the local Red Data List, 2009.
