Species Details

Apple of Peru is a very rare casual annual of waysides, waste places and cultivated ground. All records are from the south of our area, there are recent ones from Belper (SK3447 & SK3748) and near Sandiacre Lodge Farm (SK4437), plus a previous one from Ashbourne (SK1746) in 1980. It is grown in gardens for ornament, and is also a birdseed alien. It grows naturally in South America.
