Species Details

Yellow Water-lily is native aquatic perennial of lakes canals and rivers. It is occasional in the lowlands of our area being most frequent south (Swarkestone Gravel Pit SK3627) and east (Erewash Canal SK44Q) of Derby. It also occurs but only rarely in the more upland parts of the county (Hermitage Pond SK2271). Previously it was recorded for much the same area plus the north-western part of our region (Thornsett Mill Pond SK0186). It is less often planted than other water-lilies but many of the records mapped here are still probably of naturalised plants.
