Species Details

Lemon-scented Fern is a frequent native perennial of the Dark and South West Peak areas where it occurs in damp areas of woods, moors and rocky banks (Whiteley Nab SK0292 & Priddock Wood SK2086). Outside these areas there are only three localities with recent records. There are records from Parsley Hay (SK1463) and Minninglow Hill (SK2057) where there are pockets of acid soil on the Carboniferous Limestone. There is also a record from Hermit’s Wood (SK4338) in the Coal Measures area. Previously the plant was recorded more frequently from the southern and eastern areas of our county including Cubley (SK1539) and Repton Shrubs (SK3123).
