Species Details

Star-of-Bethlehem is a newly established perennial of grasslands waysides and rough ground. It occurs rarely, scattered throughout the central parts of our area as at Miller’s Dale (SK1573), Gang Vein (SK2855), Fallgate (SK3562) and Belph (SK5475). Previously it was also recorded from the south of our area as at the Holmes Derby (SK33) in 1829 and near Calke (SK32) in 1973. It is sometimes grown around houses and our plants are probably garden escapes or throw outs. It is sometimes considered native in eastern England.
