Species Details

Greater Burnet-saxifrage is a native perennial of grasslands, hedge-banks and woodland margins particularly on base-rich soils. Whilst frequent in the White Peak {Monk’s Dale SK1375; High Low SK1568, Black Rocks SK2154} and Magnesian Limestone areas (Roseland Wood SK4967, Pleasley Vale SK5265}, elsewhere it is rare {Dennis Knowle SK2284; Langley Mill SK4446, Marston-on-Dove SK2329}. Nationally it is a lowland species reaching its altitudinal limit of 320m in Derbyshire (Preston XXet al. 2002).
