Species Details

Buck’s-horn Plantain is a very rare native annual or perennial of dry, disturbed areas on roadsides and waste ground. Current records are from throughout the county (Dark Peak SK1190 and Staunton Harold SK3724) including the limestone areas (Steetley SK5478 and Melbourne Farm (SK1967). Previous records are from the same areas of the county. Nationally it is showing a spread inland along salt-treated roads (Preston et al. 2002). However, despite the spread of other maritime plants along such roads in the county this species is not showing such a spread here.
