Species Details

Soft Shield-fern is a rare native perennial of deciduous woods, hedges and rock outcrops throughout our area (Chee Dale SK1273, Gulliver’s Kingdom SK2957, Linacre Woods SK3272, Ticknall Limeyards SK3623 & Hermit’s Wood SK4438). Clapham (1969) suggested the plant was "perhaps decreasing", however, the number of recent records rather suggests that the plant has been overlooked in the past.
