Species Details

Firethorn is a recently-established spiny and evergreen shrub that is grown in gardens and amenity plantings. It survives as a relic of cultivation and can escape by being bird-sown or thrown out onto waysides and waste ground. The two local records are from Spital (SK3870) and Mapperley (SK4342). It is a native of southern Europe.
