Species Details

Celery-leaved Buttercup is native annual of the bare mud at the margins of ponds ditches and streams. It is frequent through the lowland Coal Measures, Southern Claylands and Trent Valley areas such as at Hilton Gravel Pits (SK2431) and Netherthorpe (SK4375). However, it is only rare over the rest of the county where it occurs for example at Hayfield (SK0587) and Over Wheal (SK1569). Previously it had the same distribution but was more frequent particularly in the lowland areas where it has been lost form a number of sites probably due to the loss of field ponds.
