Species Details

Soft Downy-rose is a rare native shrub of rough grassland and scrub in the White Peak, as at Priestcliffe Lees (SK1473), Coombs Dale (SK2274) and Dove Dale (SK1453). Previously it was also recorded for a wider area, generally in lowland Derbyshire, for example at Swadlincote (SK3020) in 1978, Mapperley (SK4342) in 1969, and Cartledge (SK3277) in 1969. Nationally it is a plant of upland Britain, with its local occurrences being virtually on its south-eastern limit.
