Species Details

This rose is a very rare, native bush of scrub mainly on calcareous soils. The only recent record is for the Chesterfield area (SK37). Previously it occurred scattered throughout central and southern Derbyshire from Wye Dale (SK17) in the White Peak to Snelston (SK14) and Repton (SK32) in the south. This contraction in range is probably partly due to the agricultural improvement of marginal land, and also to there being fewer botanists who can identify critical species such as this.
