Species Details

This native bramble has only three recent records from widely separated parts of our area (Whaley Bridge SK0181, near Hazelmere Farm SK5174 and near Catton SK21H). Previously there are numerous records that fill in the area between the three recent ones (e.g. Calton Lees SK26 for 1903, Shottle Gate SK34 for 1903, and Swarkestone SK32 for 1969). Nationally it is lowland plant of southern Britain (Newton & Randall 2004), which is towards the northern edge of its distribution with us.
