Species Details

White Willow is an occasional native tree of wet ground by streams and ponds, and in woods and marshy areas. It is also planted for ornament in gardens and elsewhere, sometimes as Golden Willow (variety vitellina) as at Dunston Tip (SK3674). It is most frequent in the south of our county, becoming rarer to the north such that it is almost absent from the Dark Peak.
