Species Details

Greater Duckweed is a very rare native aquatic that grows floating on still and slowly-moving waters. Currently it is only recorded from the Trent Valley {Melbourne Pool SK3924; Alvaston SK3834, Sawley Cut SK4730} , there is a specimen from the first location in Derby Museum. Previously it was recorded elsewhere in the eastern part of the county as well. Nationally it is a lowland species that rarely flowers in Britain (Preston et al. 2002).
