Species Details

Greater Stitchwort is a frequent native perennial that scrambles through the undergrowth of woods and shady hedgerows. It grows throughout Derbyshire, except for those parts of the White and Dark Peak over 300m, and in a wide band along the valley of the River Trent where the soils are probably too enriched with inorganic fertilisers for the plant to occur. It has the local name of Bird’s Eye (Grigson 1975).
