Species Details

Western Hemlock is a large evergreen tree that is recorded very rarely as a casual in plantations. It occurs in the north of the county for example at Upper Derwent (SK1389), Whirlow Brook (SK38B) and Linacre Woods (SK3272). It is grown for timber and is native to western North America.
