Ulmus plotii
Plot's Elm
Species Details
Plot’s Elm is a very rare native tree of copses and hedgerows that is also often planted. It was recorded for dales of the Wye Valley (SK17), Cutthorpe (SK3474) and Ford (SK4080) in Clapham’s (1969) Flora but there have been no more recent records. It is not known if this lack of recent records means the tree has been killed off by Dutch Elm disease or has simply been over looked. As a native plant it is a Nationally Scarce species and a U.K. species of Conservation Concern.
This plant is in Category 4 of the local Red Data List, 2009.
