Species Details

English Elm is an occasional native tree of hedgerows but is also much planted. It has proved very susceptible to the outbreak of Dutch Elm disease that began in the 1960s so all that has survived in most hedges are bushy or sucker growths. (??Needs map to confirm distribution).
