Species Details

Great Mullein is an occasional native biennial of grassy places, waysides and quarries, mostly on well-drained soils. It is also grown in gardens for ornament from where it escapes as seed or throw-outs onto tips and waste ground. It occurs throughout our area though it generally avoids the high moors of the Dark and South West Peak. Specimen localities are Gamesley Sidings (SK0093), Miller’s Dale Quarry (SK1473), Dovedale (SK1456), Smisby Village (SK3419) and Cresswell Crags (SK5274).
