Species Details

Wayfaring-tree is a rare casual shrub of waysides and amenity areas, that is now often planted in restoration and enhancement schemes. It is sometimes considered native (Clapham 1969) but there are no sites where it is above suspicion of having spread from planted specimens. It occurs scattered through our area from the Hope Valley Works (SK1782) and Dronfield (SK37P) in the north, to Foremark Reservoir (SK3324 & 3323) in the south. It is native to England south of Derbyshire.
