Species Details

Greater Periwinkle is a newly established creeping perennial of waysides shrubberies scrub and waste places. It occurs rarely throughout our area from Barber Booth (SK1184) and Pleasley Vale (SK56C) in the north, through Pentrich Lane End (SK3751), to Doveridge (SK1234) and Melbourne Town (SK3825) in the south. It is widely grown for ground cover, and, being a vigorous grower, it often grows out of gardens or is discarded with garden waste. It is indigenous to the Mediterranean.
