Species Details

Wild Pansy is a rare annual or short-lived perennial of grasslands, cultivated ground and waste places. This pretty native is recorded from throughout Derbyshire except for the north-western region {Stanley Moor SK0470; Rosliston SK2516; Breadsall Hilltop SK3738, Brearley Hall SK3975} , our plant is subspecies Xxtricolor. Sadly, there has been a widespread national decline in this plant since 1962 (Preston XXet al. 2002).

This plant is in Category 2 of the local Red Data List, 2009.
