Species Details

Lesser Water-plantain is a very rare native perennial of the sides of ponds and streams. There are no recent records and it has only been previously recorded from three sites. These are Repton (SK32) in 1866, between Derby and Burton in 1903, and Pebley Pond (SK4878) in 1787 and 1950. This local loss mirrors a wider loss through central England where the species has disappeared from many sites due to them being overgrown by more vigorous plants (Preston XXet al. 2002).

This plant is in Category 2 of the local Red Data List, 2009.
