Species Details

Black Horehound is an anciently established perennial of waste ground and waysides, generally on nutrient rich soils, near habitations. There are occasional records scattered throughout eastern and southern Derbyshire, from Steetley Quarry (SK5478) in the north, through Oakerthorpe (SK3854) and Shipley (SK4444), to Ticknall (SK3523) and Lullington villages (SK2513) in the south. Elsewhere this foetid plant is very rare {Brierley Green SK0282, Grindlow SK1877}.
