Species Details

Darwin’s Barberry is a very rare established shrub of roadsides and bushy areas where its evergreen and spiny growth make it an attractive and useful plant. It can occasionally spread by bird-sown seed. There are only three records from our area; The Parks, Buxton (SK0573), Taddington By-pass (SK1471) and ????(SK4?4?), all of which date from 1996. It is indigenous to South America.
