Species Details

Hybrid Birch is a very rare native tree that has been recently recorded from just four localities (Highshaw Clough SK2188, Hopton Quarry SK2656, near Wire Stone Plantation SK3263 & Pilsley SK4263). It is the hybrid of our two native birches, Silver (XXB. pendula) and Downy Birch (XXB. pubescens). It is often difficult to separate from its parents and is thus probably under recorded
